Interior Partition Walls & Soundproofing
Restore the peace and quiet in your open-concept home.
Love the open space, hate the noise?
Open-concept living is beautiful, but it comes with a major downside: sound travels everywhere. If you can hear the dishwasher while watching a movie, or if your home office calls are interrupted by kitchen chatter, you need a barrier.
At HomeBase, we build interior partition walls that solve these acoustic nightmares. Whether you need to divide a large basement into separate bedrooms or close off a loft to create a private nursery, we build walls that look like they were part of the original blueprints—not an afterthought.
Our Soundproofing Solutions:
- Rockwool Safe’n’Sound®: Specialized acoustic insulation that traps noise inside the wall cavity.
- Resilient Channels: Metal tracks that decouple the drywall from the studs to stop vibration transfer.
- Solid Core Doors: Replacing hollow “drum-like” doors with heavy, sound-blocking slabs.
- Glass Partitions: Floor-to-ceiling glass walls that block sound while keeping the light and views.
You don’t have to sacrifice style for silence. Let’s build the quiet you deserve.
Frequently Asked Questions about Interior Walls
Can you soundproof an existing wall?
Yes. We don’t always have to tear the wall down. We can add a second layer of 5/8″ drywall using a damping compound like Green Glue, which drastically reduces sound transmission without the mess of full demolition.
Will the new wall look like a patch job?
Never. We are experts in trim matching. We replicate your existing baseboards, crown molding, and paint texture so the new partition blends seamlessly into your home’s architecture.
How thick is a standard partition wall?
A standard interior wall is about 4.5 inches thick (3.5″ stud + 1/2″ drywall on both sides). If you are tight on space, we can look into thinner custom framing options, though standard thickness is best for sound control.
