Cabinet Refacing & Painting

The “New Kitchen” look without the “New Kitchen” price tag.

Your cabinets have “Good Bones” but “Bad Skin.”

If you like the layout of your kitchen but hate the color or style of the cabinets, ripping them out is a waste of money and materials. Most older cabinets are actually built better than modern stock options—they just look stuck in the 90s.

At HomeBase, we offer two distinct paths to modernization: Professional Painting and Cabinet Refacing. Unlike a DIY paint job that peels in a year, we use industrial-grade lacquers and conversion varnishes that provide a factory-hard finish.

Which option is right for you?

  • Professional Painting: We clean, sand, and spray your existing doors and boxes. Best if your doors are in good shape and you just want a color change (e.g., Oak to White).
  • Cabinet Refacing: We keep your cabinet boxes but install brand new doors and drawer fronts (usually Shaker style) and veneer the exterior frames to match. This changes the style, not just the color.
  • Hardware Upgrades: We fill the old handle holes and drill new ones for modern pulls and soft-close hinges.

Get a brand new look for about 1/3 of the cost of a full remodel.

Frequently Asked Questions about Cabinets

Will the paint chip off?

Not with our process. We do not use house paint. We use a 2K Polyurethane or Conversion Varnish system—the same coating used by cabinet manufacturers. It is resistant to grease, moisture, and chipping.

How long does the process take?

This is the fastest way to get a “new” kitchen. A typical project takes 5 to 7 days. We usually remove the doors to spray them in our shop, so your kitchen remains usable for most of the week.

Can you hide the old hinges?

Yes. Older cabinets often have exposed exterior hinges. During a Refacing project, we install modern, concealed “European style” soft-close hinges for a cleaner, updated look.
